I noticed some differential fluid leaking at the end of my axle tube. Dana 44 front axle, 3/4 ton 1976 dodge w200. When axle is removed is there supposed to be a seal in the end of axle tube. I don't see one, but thought some idiot might have left it out!! If not, what keeps fluid from running out the end of the tube?

There is a seal but its up at the gear end of the tube, not at the wheel end. To change that one you need to remove both axles and the gear set. Since you need to do all that you might as well replace both seals and the pinion seal too. Maybe even the bearings.
