Howdy,
Is the connector that uses a nut to secure it to the alternator output, a dealer part? On my 76 RC it seems to basically be a fancy shielded ring connector. If this is a dealer (or auto parts store) part, I'd like to know.

The cable to the connector at the firewall has at least 2 splices that I want to get rid of, so if I can't find a shielded ring connector like the original, then I will set up something with a regular ring connector. thanks

I was just about to look for one myself. I'll let you look for me? Is the picture below the one you are talking about? The part number is listed with it, would you call the dealer and find out if they still can get it?
Might also try an Auto Electric shop or possibly a Marine or RV center for one?
