I am getting rid of my boat and thinking about keeping one of my batteries. Should I keep the larger deep cycle or the starting battery? Would one work better than the other in the RC?

Deep cycle batteries are not designed for the loads a starter of a daily-driven rig places on them. They are designed for long-term, continuous draw. Your starter will kill that deep cycle quickly.

If you wanted to run a dual battery setup, with things like lights, radio, winch (maybe) hooked up to it, the deep cycle would work well (you would need a battery isolator)

All I buy anymore is Deep Cycle Batteries....The one in my truck is 3 1/2 years old,and the one in my car trailer is 3years old.Have one more that just died, over 5 years old, that I just use to run in all other projects in the yard.
