Lift questions

I got a 79 dodge stepside pickup 4wd, it came with 35 swampers on it. but i found out the axles are dana 70 so they have been changed. it rides like a tank and i want to put a lift on it to clear 38's with new springs to soften the ride but don't know what size lift is needed to do this. I was trying to find out if it has any lift now (except the 3" body likt) I also have a 83 dodge pickup and the front spring is straight (it's stock) the 79 front spring is also straight (no arch) could the truck clear 35's with only a 3" body lift and the axle change or does anybody think it has a supension lift? what can i check to find out how much lift is on it if any?
Thanks
Jay

yes it is possible for the truck to clear 35s on 3in lift, but they would rub like hell off road. if u plan on using the truck off road, go with at least 6-8 inches of lift total (so u could add a 5-6in lift to ur 3in body lift.)

I have a 1 ton truck and i have 35's with a 2" body lift , but if you remove those non moving 1 ton springs you better go with a lift because they will rub when that axle actually starts moving around
I have 36" tire on my 77 and all i have is the RCC 4inch hanger and shackle lift in the front and a add a leaf in the rear. i only rub on my steering arm.

And I have told you your axles move a LOT more then you think they do! ;D
