Like I said in a previous post I want to get some more hieght on my truck eventually. What are the pros and cons between a lift kit or and add a leaf and also raising the body a little. This truck pulls a trailer and gets loaded with mulch etc. I don't want a lot of hieght just a little. Also would like to increase the load capacity just a skosh. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

lift kits are great because you can get so many different kits but they are much more expensive than add a leafs. using add a leafs will stiffen up the ride but the amount of lift is very unpredictable. you can tailor a lift kit to your need by shopping different manufacturers. i bought a tough country kit for my truck and then modified if to get rid of the rear blocks and level the truck. body lifts are cheap and easy to install but they can cause other problems like putting the fan too close to the fan shroud and steering linkage problems too

Go with the add a leafs if you require more load carying capacity, and if you need more height, a body lift is a great thing. Cheap and easy to clean mud out from under a truck.

Thanks guys, how will adda leaves affect ride? I realize to increase load can increase stiffness.

It will make for a stiffer ride when empty, but when loaded, you will notice an increase in stability.

I was looking at the rough country lift system. Anyone got any experience with it or something similar?

I have Rough Country add-a-leaves up front and installed taller blocks in back and also a 1" body lift. This gives it a nice stance.
The add-a-leaves definitly made it ride more firm.
However, I recently installed Shaggy's XD front shackles now I've noticed the ride seems a bit softer. The shackles also gave me a whole lot more flex ;D.

Add a leafs will make the ride stiffer. Not uncomfortably so, but still stiffer. And they will not increase your load carrying capacity as much as you might think. If you're looking to level out a heavy load, do not depend on add a leafs to do that. Use those commercially sold overloads springs or the high dollar air bag systems. If you're looking for a 1 1/2 to 2 inch lift without having to mess with anything else, the add a leafs work great.

I was thinking that with the Rough Country system which has rear leaves. If the leaves will lift the truck they will surely take a little more load than stock springs. Right or wrong? Add a leaves and a small body lift definitly look cheaper, but I've found in life that what starts out cheaper don't always end up that way.

you will have to use a c clamp to compress the springs a little when you take the center pin in and out because you cant just suck the springs down with the centerpin its just there to hold the springs together.
