85 RC AW150. Developed a leak on the back lower left side of the transfer case. Appears to be leaking between the "retainer" (pump housing and output shaft) and the transfer case body. No leaks around output shaft. Works fine and I hear no strange noises. But a while back I had to clean mud from the vent. Plugged solid.

FSM indicates the oil seals for the pump and output shaft can be replaced without removing the case from the vehicle. Is this so? Anyone have a parts list for this? Has anyone done this? All help or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Depending on the age of the rig, you may want to buy a kit and do a rebuild. I performed this operation on my '83 RC. It was not difficult at all. Remember that the 208 takes tranny fluid as it's lube. Most kits do not have a chain with the kit. Chains run about $120. I would not buy the chain until you get in the case. Mine was in very good condition and did not need replacing.
