Ok this should be a one liner response from somebody. I bought an 86 Ramcharger a couple of years ago and when I did all I got was one key. I didn't think much about it except that I couldn't lock the tail gate, so I figured that it was broken. Then the other day I noticed someone is selling keysets on ebay and they had two different shaped keys for the Ramcharger - so am I missing a key? Or in the alternative how can I fix the tailgate so I can lock the truck up?

I'd say: yes you miss a key. At least I have 2 different shaped keys for my tailgate and my doors/ignition.
Best I can think of, to fix your tailgate problem, is to get a new lock incl. keys for the tailgate. :-\

I had the same problem when I bought a used car. I only got a key for the doors/ignition. Nothing for anything else on the car.

I had a locksmith come out to my house and make me a key for the rear hatch. It cost me 35 bucks, took 15 minutes, and now I have all the keys I need, and didn't have to buy / replace any locks. The same key he made works for the rear hatch, the rear storage compartment, and the glove box.

Ok I have it solved. Basically what happened was when I bought the Truck the kid I bought it from wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, so when he gave me these extra keys I noticed they weren't dodge but GM - square. So I just thought he made a mistake, I took the ignition key and threw the rest in the garage figuring that he would come calling for them if he needed them.

Ok now fast forward to today when I remembered that series of events, found the keys and locked the tailgate - imagine that. Guess I am not the sharpest hook in the tackle box either!

take the lock out of the liftgate, then take the lock to the locksmith, and it should cost less than 10 bucks. the cylinder has a code on the side that the locksmith can decipher and cut ya a key...

same problem with my 89 rc. i only got one key. and also i can even put the key into my pass door cyliner. it used to be the one on the driver side but i swapped sides so the seized up one isnt making me crawl through the truck. so you think if i pulled out the two locks that they could fix the door one and make me a key to the gate? i havent called any local locksmiths but this seems pretty easily done.
