My 88 rc is supposed to have it's jack inside the left side of the engine compartment. I have a single lug wrench and a crank rod but no jack. Does anyone know where to get this kind of jack and will it handle my truck with a 5 1/2 in. lift?

in a JunkYard.

get a square piece of wood about 5 inches high. like a 8x8 to sit the stock jack on. or get a high lift

the stock ones were not that great.

a normal bottle jack...at least that's what I identified the object as that supposedly is the jack, or should I say was? ;)

I got a 3ton bottle jack at sears, lifts the truck high enough to change a tire and fits in the stock location, I use a bungie cord to hold it inplace

There's one at the bottom of the Arkansas river if you want it. That's where I threw mine when it wouldn't lift my truck while sitting on a slight angle. They are complete crap. Get a hydraulic bottle jack and bolt it in the same place

Just like everyone else, I tossed the factory jack and bought myself a 3 ton bottle jack. I put it in the same spot and used the factory hold down.

Mine never came with one when I bought it so I didn't even realize I was supposed to have one there until I was changing my headlights. Then (after about a month driving without it) I got one. Now I have a high lift jack. Just don't know where to mount it yet.

okay, so that brings up another question...wheres the best place to mount a hi-lift in the engine compartment? ;D
I dont have a one yet but i plan on getting one real soon and stashing it under the hood would be an awesome way to conserve space inside the truck.

the problem with mounting a hiulift under the hood is that if you have any lift at all on the rc/td then the only hi lift that will fit the truck will not fit under the hood.

a 48 inch hilift will just barely get my rc off of the ground before it tops out.

however, if oyu are really interested in this, hilift sells mounting kits for their jacks and on the passenger side firewall above the wheel housing would work ok i beleive.
