I was mounting my coil to the firewall and this wire broke off of whatever that can looking thing is(which was mounted to the intake). The connector side mounted to one of the coil terminals. What is this... a ground?

I believe its a noise suppressor. Don't really need it. I've broke some in the past and ran without them.

Cool, thanks 300le Since the truck started right up and wasn't running any different, I figured it couldn't be much.

300LE is right, it is just a capacitor to help eliminate engine noise over the radio.
