I have just aquired a 90 RC 360 auto trans truck. My goal is to swap the 360 over to a 4bl and transplant it and the trans into my 84 RC 4x4. Currently the 84 is a 318 2bl 4spd. NP208. The main reason for tranny swap is the the ol NP435 is definatly showing its age. Being that i have a good 46RH I am hoping that it will be possible to use this tranny with a carbed setup.

I have been told that i may have to wire the Lockup Solenoid and the over drive on a switch. Wiring is not a problem just as long as i know that it is a possible swap.

The only other problem I foresee is the Throttle Rod. Will I need different linkages to use this with a carbed setup?

thanks in advance

I ve been doing some more reading and searching. This is what i think to be correct.

1990 46rh, a redesignated 518, non lockup?
if so, the only wiring i would have to contend with will be for the overdrive?

thanks

Bill The 4bbl carb will require that you get a different kickdown lever and the brackets and stuff for it. Ihave the setup here from the r/c I just junked I had an Edelbrock intake and Carb but now I have the Td with the 400. I know where there is another kickdown and linkage also if you are interested they can be had cheap. And what are you planning to do with the transmission that you take out of the 84. ( the manual tranny). I am dying to put my hands on that setup I hate the auto tranny's and have been seeking a manual for some time.
Also I apologize for the other thing i got a little hot. you know which I'm talking about.

Yep I took the same setup out of a 90 van and i used the engine but not the tranny. didn't feel like doing a shaft swap to make it bolt to the t-case and the answers I got when I asked tell me that you are right.. Hey I want first crack at the tranny and t-case I got an extra 208 now but I need the tranny. I asked first. Just remember that :)
