a buddy of mine has a 2000 intrepid was on his was to Arkansas and it started knocking started minor then got worse. Its consistante with with idle speed it got so bad he had to have it towed from Arkansas to OKC so he really didnt mess it up. Any ideas and if so is it woth getting fixed or go with a rebuilt engine his has 111,000 thousand miles on it its a 3.0 liter v-6 he says.

might see if you can find an engine in a junk yard. Most common engine that year is 2.7 L

I didn't think the 3.0L was even offered in the Intrepid.. I've seen the 2.7, 3.3, and 3.5L. If it's a 2.7L.. I've seen many people swapping them out for 3.5L's.. the 2.7L seems to be more particular as to the maintenance schedules and driving patterns it sees. The 3.5L.. just runs. Also.. you can get a 3.5 for 1/4 the cost of a 2.7L
