Hey Y'all. I was curious to find out if anybody knew...

Do the scout trannies use the same mounting flange layout as a mopar 4spd? (tranny to bellhousing)

Is the bellhousing to engine block pattern the same as an LA Mopar?

(basically, can I put a MP 360 in front of a scout tranny without adapters?)

thanks,
Ian

I have had 2 scouts and at least one (about 1976 I think) had a 727 tranny I believe, mated to a 345 Int engine. Part time Tcase, locking manual hubs.

I dont think they can. the bell housing is different. I have one and you can see the back of the motor realy well, due to the front opening hood and the fire wall being so far back. It looks a lot different but ive never tried to compare.

IH used 2 different bell patterns, The larger one for 345 and 392 is unique to IH as far as I know, the IH 304 motor used the amc bell pattern. Neither will bolt up to a 360 mopar.

I looked at some 727 build sheets I have and chysler literature says that the 304 and 345 are same bell.
