Dumb question alert! I'm new to the TBI trucks. What is this component?

Idle speed control motor, or sometimes called throttle kicker..that’s the noise you hear after you shut the truck off, that’s the gears resetting..they can be rebuilt. Controls idle speed.

I heard the gears are plastic. I wonder if they just crack or become brittle overtime.

I'd bet the usual nylon gears like they used in windows, wiper motors and a couple other places. Pretty good life span when a one piece mold, not so much when laminated over timing gears or used for wiper bushings.
