Go to a local well driller and ask for a length of used well casing. Trim it and blast it, weld up the ends with plate. Cut a twelve inch hole in the middle for a twelve in length of heavy duty 4 inch angle (scrap yard). Weld that in (that's your step). weld on some mounting plates to the frame and some military style tow rings and paint it your favorite color. Now you have a bumper that's round and will not catch on anything and is indestructible and next to free. Mine has seen three trucks and is still perfect. Every five years or so I paint it. Good luck.
redrock nice advice i like your style of thinking and while you are at it goahead and put a valve on it so that you have onboard air and just fill it when you are at the gas station. and 76 that is a nice custom bumper i can't say that i have seen one like that before did you make it yourself, or is it a manufatcured?

Thanks! Yes, I made it myself. Still isn't finished. I plan on plating the backside and mounting some backup lights in it, and I need to weld in the receiver hitch for my winch..
76.....Hows that attach to the frame?

I had 2, 3" sched 40 pipes one above the other that were capped and hydro tested to 400lb that made a good looking bumper and dual air tanks! I'll look up some pics and post em.

I took a peice of 1/4" plate and made two ears which I blew a hole for my pipe to run through then welded the pipe to the plates on both sides. Then I drilled three holes through the plate that match the three holes in the frame. 6 bolts later "walah"
My 6" channel bumper is maounted the same way also... ;D

Just wondered if u did something different..

If u get a chance, can u email some pics of your truck to me?
