my '83 RC has a pair of Super Winch manual hubs on it ...... is there any regular mantinance i need to be doing on them ..... cleaning, gerasing, quarterly inspection, anything like that? i have no idea how old or how many miles they may have on them thay were on the truck when i bought it Halloween. other than putting in the 5 missing allen screws i have done nothing to them. when i check my tire pressure about once a month i like to lock and unlock them making shure they engage and turn smoothly ,once and a while check the screws other than that theirs not a hole lot of maintence in less somthing is wrong
The hubs generally don't need too much maintence. However it's a good idea to keep them greased. Usually I will pull them out whenever I either submerge the axle or grease the wheelbearings, and service them then

I like to pull my hubs apart once a year and clean them out and repack them with fresh grease. Also, about once a month lock them and drive around town for a day or two. This will ensure all the bearings are still good and sling some gear oil so nothing rusts.
I clean and grease the hubs when I do brake or wheel bearing maintenance.

You need to spend some more quality time with the other shift lever ;D
