I've had trouble accessing the outbox I can't find where to go or what to change to be able to see my sent messages

If you click on either the "My Messages" or "Read you messages" links in the menu bar to the left it will take you to a list of your incoming PMs.  At the top left of the list there is an orange button that says "Messages", if you mouse over it, you can select New Message, Inbox or Sent Items.

Unless you click the box to save the message when you send it, the system does not save them.
