My Corparate 9.25 was getting so hot you couldn't touch it, but the Dana 44 was cool.

I had it rebuilt, and now it is only a little cooler. What is the "normal" temp for an RC rear end on the highway?

I say pretty warm to touch. 140 would be a good guess for the temp.

Good guess 300le..
I just recently aquired an IR thermometer, (the kind with the laser pointer), and have been having the time of my life measuring the temp of things. I checked my RC's rear and it was somewhere between 140 and 150.
Also, I noticed one exhaust manifold is about 100 deg. hotter than the other....so now I'm gonna be dwelling on that.

16FW, The reason your 44 is cooler is because it isn't doing much work while you're driving on the highway.

Ya, touching the pumkin is very warm and hard to hold the hand on there for long. I don't know about actual temp but defitly warm. The front 44 is also right in the wind when driving which helps.

It is touchable now, but it wasn't before I got it overhauled. I guess it is ok now. 140 is about what hot water comes out, so that seems about right.
