I appears to me that you would press them out from the bottom up.

I have removed the snap ring from the bottom of the lower joint, and have a 10 ton press handy, I just don't want to break anything.

Yup, from the bottom up. Also, a ball joint press (harbor freight $39.00) with the proper adapters is probably much easier than a big press, especially for re-assembly.

Man, that was way easier than getting the steering arm off. I can see how it might be easier to re-install with the ball joint press.

now you know why l love auto mechanics / you can whip a job off in 10 minutes and tell the customer it took 4 hours and as far as they know it did / BUT it takes years of EXPERIENCE and SKILL to be able to do that and still get the pay you deserver / Mechanics get NO respect

Sorry, No digi cam... It was pretty easy to get them out. I set the knuckle upside down on a couple pieces of angle on the press, sprayed a little liquid wrench on there, and pressed the bottom one out with a piece of shaft. then I slid the shaft through the bottom one and pressed the top one out. I spent more time getting the shelving system off the press that had been pushed over by some delivery driver the night before. I think it took 5 minutes on the press.

And you're right, Deano. If ya paid the money for the right tool, and have the knowladge, your time cannot be judged in the same manner as others.
