This is my 93 S10 Blazer, on steroids. I've done all kinds of stuff to her, most noticeably, a sas. D30 (I know, I know) up front, spring over, and a 8.8 spring over in the back. 4.10's and 33" MT's. Still got a lot to do but it's comin togther.

Availablilty, price, ease of finding parts, width, spring perch placement, and desired gear ratio already in it. All this and I had to get it back on the road at the time because it was my only vehicle and I "had" to start the project when I blew out the stock ifs passenger side hub. I've seen the dana 30 family take plenty of abuse without breaking. My buddy has a supercharged 383 Jeep YJ with stock a stock rear d35 and the engine beats on it with all 800ftlbs of torque and it is still goin strong. I figue, some time down the line, if I need to, I can get a D44 or even a D60 when money, the axle, and a place to do it comes around.whlnwgn said:Just wondering, why swap-in the most swaped-out axle on earth?![]()
I happen to have a my Rangers' suspension lifted 6" with tha stock TTB Dana 35. and rear 8.8. Ask any of the guys in my club and they'll tell you I wheel as hard as any "true" 4x4 with straight axles.Smokin_Guns said:Ya know, there is a wee bit of prejudice towards non-mopar around these parts. Lots of brand loyalty. Hell, I have a Dodge Ram tattoo on my left shoulder. But I do have to say, for a chev, an S-10 for that matter, it looks pretty badass. I appluad the staight axle (can't stand seeing rigs with IFS lifted way too tall, with way too big tires, it screams street poser. Heaven forbid they go over a speed bump at more than 10mph, the carnage would be incredible).
Got a nice rig there man. Lets see a small block under the hood!
