ok for simplivcity it is hard to beat either one, mechanical just seems to have a better track record for accuracy.

for a mech oil gauge you will need a 1/2 or a 7/16 wrench depending on brand
will also need a 9/16 to remove old sending unit

for temp gauge you will need a 3/4 and a 5/8 to put in new sending unit

will just need a screwdriver to mount new gauge

ok i got it,... but can i use the stock senders if i just buy new electrical(sp) gauges...oil pressure....and temp. or do i have to install the new senders that come with the gauges?? if i can get away with useing the stock senders and just hook up the new gauges that would be cool. can this be done?
thanks everyone

AUTOMETER FAQ
Do I need a sender for my electrical gauge?

Electrical temperature and pressure gauges require the use of a sender matched for the type of gauge in use; the stock sender will only work with the stock gauges. Auto Meter gauges are designed to work with the Auto Meter sender that is included with the gauge. Extra senders are available; check out our Accessories.

I would just convert over to Mechanical, you'll be suprised as to how much accuracy they offer. As others have said don't mix stock senders and after market gauges or vice versa, you will have more problems. Or just get some oem's from the jy. If you change to aftermarket electrical gauges, go with those senders and gauges from the same manufacture. You may luck out on the orignal gas tank sender working with an after market gauge, BUT you will have to check the spec's on the gauge from the manufacture to insure that sender can be used when upgrading fuel gauge too.
