The fuel gauge on my 1985 w-150 isnt working. I just replaced the sending unit and the fuel lines now the guage wont work. When you turn the ignition on the needle moves up but only to the tick mark above E or E and floats back and forth when driving. I have checked the connections at the sending unit they seem good. What could this be? Any help with this will be appreciated. It sure has me stumped.

Make sure the sending unit is grounded as well.

I went and saw my friend today who is a mechanic and he said it probably has a bad ground. The gauge was working yesterday then went back down to E today. It has a full tank of gas. So I think it could be a bad ground with it working and not working. Any other suggestions?
