'I weep for the liberty of my country when I see at this early day of its successful experiment that corruption has been imputed to many members of the House of Representatives, and the rights of the people have been bartered for promises of office."

Andrew Jackson

“If you can't convince them, confuse them.”

The following is not, by any stretch of the imagination, my favorite Presidential or political quote....but it is a quote and it is full of irony....considering who, like many others before him, spoke these very same words....only unlike his predecessors, since they only had to do it once....he did it twice....granted, not due to any fault of his own....some of you will see the irony and to others it may have to be spelled out....

The oath of office of the President of the United States is an oath or affirmation required by the United States Constitution before the President begins the execution of the office. The wording is specified in Article Two, Section One, Clause Eight:

" I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. "

President Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America

Really?....so how's that working out for ya'?....

I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.

"As of now, I am in control here in the White House, pending the return of the vice president," Haig said.

Televised statement of then Sec. of State Alexander Haig following the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan by John Hinckley in 81'....

He should have reviewed the ascension of power before going on the air.... ::)....he meant well....just that "timing is everything thing" bit him in the butt....

Speaking of ascension of power:

They're in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.
a politician who did not know what the vice presidents job was
