How important it it to have a have shroad. I mean, i've never had one and it's only over heated once...I'm going to get one, but is it bad to not have one for now?

Without the shroud, the fan has a tendency to pull air from above and beneath the radiator. The shroud helps to concentrate the flow thru the radiator. You really should have one

If your engine is staying cool without a shroud, then you don't need a shroud.

It is designed to help your fan pull air through the radiator more efficiently.

Your fan will still work without a shroud, but not as well.

Just for the record - I took mine off because it was cracked into 4 peices. The truck does not over heat, but deffinitely runs hotter, I'm going to replace it, until I can get an electric fan set up.

From what I've read, the shroud is most important when standing still. Like Primer Grey said, it helps to get the air through the rad.
