I'm wondering what is the difference in the two years of the 360 engine from 1997 to 1998? And what is stock H.P. and torque for the 1997?

And did the 1997 360 ever come from the factory with true dual exhaust on a 2 wd P/U?

Thanks,
Gary

I don't know if there are any engine differences between the two (possibly computer??), but I know the 98 and later had more hp and more torque which I believe was due to a better flowing exhaust system (key words here being "I think" not "I know" ::))

The HP gain was more likely in the computer settings. The exhaust never really changed. True dual exhaust was never available on any 94 up Ram. HP and TQ for the magnum 360 started out at 230 hp and 335 ft/lbs of torque. around 98 the numbers were 245 hp and 345 ft/lbs of torque. The Ram SS/T and the Dakota R/T both had 250 hp and used a 3 inch exhaust pipe.

The exhaust is definatly bigger in diameter in a 98 up from a 97 and earilier. I have been told that it has a less restrictive muffler as well.
