I am curious to see if anyone would be interested in some high quality electrical tape?
The stuff I am talking about is made by Plymouth Bishop Rubber Company in Canton Massachussets. It is a silicone based electrical tape that resists heat and water. Once it has been stretched and wrapped around a wire bundle, it "melds" to itself, sealing in the wiring.
I use this on aircraft wiring, and am currently trying to find out how much it costs, and how to get it on the open market. If there is any interest, I will post contact addresses and prices, and hopefully a website.

Okay, I have some info on it now. The tape is Grey in color, with a white stripe down the middle, to guide your overlap when wrapping. It is Plysil 20 and available from Stanger-Boltz Inc in Haywood CA. Their number is 510-782-8844.

I've used stuff like that when I worked for a satellite company. We used it to seal coax splices and splitters outside. It's pretty expensive, like $15 for a 40 ft roll. If you can find it cheaper, and not in bulk, I'll get a few rolls..

No idea yet. I get it for free where I work, but not too much of it. I use it all the time myself, though what I use is a different color than the grey, and has a higher heat resistance. I have not called them yet to find out the cost, but I will post as soon as I do. I am at work, and I can't make long distance calls ;D

It is the Navy supply system, and I don't have access to prices. If I order it, I get it (within reason). The rolls are 40 foot I believe. The stuff I use is available from Maurice Electric Supply in Washington DC. There info is:
Address: 500 Penn St. NE
Washington, DC 20002
Phone: 202-675-9400
Fax: 202-547-1956
I will call them to find out prices as well, and post info on both. I can't find the specifications for the stuff I use, I have searched all over the Plymouth Rubber website too.

Man, this stuff is harder to get than I thought. There is a place in Fresno that can special order it for me, but he doesn't have a price yet. I will let y'all know what it is as soon as I know. I still have not found a distributor for the stuff I use, just the 20 Plysil.

Yep, that is the stuff. The guys in fresno didn't call me back today, even though they said they would. Oh well, I'll call them back on Monday. I'll try and give them a call too, but it looks like they only sell it in boxes of 50...

You found it for $2 a roll? Damn, that's almost as cheap as regular vinyl stuff. What is the number for Dell City, and do they ship?
