Electrical problem - Help!

??? I have a '79 D100 with a 318. I just replaced the speedo cable and now it's dead - the whole truck. Will not even crank - no lights, no wipers, no nothing. The only thing that works are the flashers. I first thought neutral safety switch, but other electrical stuff should work, right? :-[

Yanking the amp meter wire is like disconnecting the battery on the older models. Messing around in the instrument cluster could have broken a corroded stud on the back of the amp gauge also. Check the back of the gauge, it happened on my old 78' model. Drove me nuts because it was intermittant.
