I scored a cheap Performer intake. Everything looks great except that on the plenum divider someone ground out a notch about 1 inch long and about 1/8 inch deep. My question is "why"? Is this something I need to fix?
Along those lines, the notch allows the engine to "see" the entire plenum area, or at least more than it would without the notch. This improves high rpm performance by partially simulating a single plane intake. Being that it's a small notch, it doesn't interfere with the low rpm power inherent to the dual plane design.
