Edelbrock carbs come with 5 in-Hg-rated step up springs in the base calibration. I recently bought a set of Edelbrock assorted step up springs and wanted to know if anyone here knows which color code on the springs will lean out and which will make it richer. In other words does anyone here know the color code of the springs? They come in pairs and are painted a different color according to their specs.

Thanks for the assist.

The rating on them is the vacuum required to overcome the spring pressure and pull the metering rod down. The bigger the number the stiffer the spring. So going with a stiffer spring will make it go to power enrichment sooner then a lighter spring. Bigger cam engines have less vacuum and need lighter springs then stock engines which have more vacuum and require stiffer springs.

Blue=3" Hg
Yellow=4"
Orange=5"
Pink=7"
Plain=8"
Also, my 1406 came with the yellow 4" installed, but I bought it almost 10 years ago, so they may have changed since.
