All I can say about this little wonder is wow. It works really well to sharpen drill bit and is very easy to use. The only training needed is what is provided in the instruction manual. It can sharpen anything from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch. I'de suggest anybody using a drill get this.

BTW we got this at the Home Depot for about $90 and I know that sears carries it also. It's worth the money.

thats cool that it works and you like it / I have wanted one now for a while / the wife is getting me one for christmas the 750 model which sharpens them up to 3/4 bits / the cheapest I have found it is $ 149.00 on the drill doctor web site / thanks for the info

I got a model 500 with the case from Sears for about $90 after it was on sale, and I had a coupon, and it was one of those 10% off everything sale days. It sharpens up to 1/2" bits, and is easily upgradable to sharpen 3/4 inch bits by getting the larger collet. I LOVE IT! I It even came with an instructional video. I sharpened all my old bits that I had been meaning to throw away. It is very easy to use, and does split point and masonry bits, also. It is very nice to see that America can still manufacture quality, innovative goods at a fair price.

8 month update. I am still using my drill doctor to sharpen all my bits up to 1/2 inch. It is a very sturdy and dependable machine for something made of plastic. I taught latindodge how to use it in about 5 minutes time, it can't be that hard to use then. I would definitely buy one if you do alot of drilling.

I've been a tool and die maker for 3 years and have never used a drill bit sarpener of any kind We use a tool called a drill Gauge its a six inch ruler(SCALE) with a 59 degree angle at the top which makes 118 degree included angle Sandard for twist drills.

  with a drill Guage and a good bench grinder Drills can be sharpened Quickly and easly and you are not limmited bye sized 1" 2" even 3" drills can easly be sharpened with a little practice

At school for my first year Millwright apprenticeship we had to make a drill gauge... Was a super cool project, and I will use it for the rest of my career!

On another note, we do lots of drilling at work, and use a Oliver sharpener much like this one! Got a few bucks...

hey cool some one else in the trade are company has a drill sharpener but its in the CNC shop and I try to avoid that place I like Handles not buttions and Usuly the grinders just quicker anyhow

Once ya master the buttons.... OMG man!  its freekin awesome!  A few g codes, m codes and x,y and z coordinates.....  and BAM!  Ya got custome wheels...  LOL  I just wish we got billet aluminum at the shop!

Yea I know its just a few codes and all But I relly like the manul machines I woun't like going to work Unless I knew there was at least a bridgeport a lathe and a surface grinder  I Like the old ways in my area GOOD tollmakers are hard to find but theres many jobs so I'm in good shape

P.s I made custum weels for a belt sander I made to look like custom wheels in the CNC

at my work the CNC's are used mostly for production which wold drive me insane (I know I had to fill in in there for a week once) except for profiling a punch from time to time But we mostly EDM em anymore
