Hi all, Looking to replace my door striker bolts since the plastic is gone on both ('89 Ramcharger) and my question is, Is the nut the striker bolt goes into captures in some sort of way so it wont fall inside the door jamb when I remove it ?

Yes, it should be a square plate, drilled and tapped, trapped by a sheetmetal bracket.
