Has anyone had a tube break and whats the best way to get the broken piece out?

If i shove a wooden dowel in there is there any reason i cant drive the truck til i have a chance to fix with new tube?

Gotta drive 5 hrs to get another D60F..... ::)

Just pull the rest out and get another tube, you could put a rubber hose over it w/clamp and stick a bolt in the end of the hose
i just had the smae thing happen to the wifes 2.2 damn thing broke off flush with the block.i shoved a bolt in it and drove it home then she blew a cv joint the next day so i still haven't got it fixed
Yea mine broke off flush with block also.....guess it lasting 30 yrs was enough.....

I'm thinkin just pull the fuel pump and posibley tap a EZ out into it and see if i can crack it loose....

Could you write up a how-to on what you do to fix it? This seems to ve a common problem with LA motors. I see a question on this once a month or better.

Mine broke completely in half just above the block but I was able to bolt it back down where it was making a half ass seal. I've been driving it 2 hrs a day but putting quite a bit of oil in it though....
I'm dropping my oil pan and tapping it out from the bottom cause I need to sand & paint my oil pan anyway.
they make a broken pipe extracter .. it is round w/ an excentric .. it is right or left ,,. take the broken tube to a local plumbing shop to get the right size.. it has a hex 1/2 or 9/16 on the top that should do it// i cought mine when it was blowing oil ... put a 5/16 ''bolt in the tube used vice grips out ok.. used a washer and the bolt to seat the new tube w/ rtv on it ,,../no leak quinn
Broken pipe extractor..........ahhhhhhhh ok i will look thru Mcmaster Carr cataloge tommorow at work...

thanks

I will take pics and do a writeup also...
