i was wondering what the difference between the 72-78 and 79-up was? i got a bunch of random dodge parts including two cowl screens and i'm not sure which kind they are. is there any way to tell? i can't seem to find part numbers on either of them.

The newer ones have the windshield washer squirters mounted on them. The older trucks have the squirters on the wiper arm. That's the only difference I know of.

I think the older ones had the "bird bath" style hoods and were flat. the newer onenes had a raised hood and the cowl matched those lines. Bill

I've seen older hoods on newer trucks and everything looked like it matched up. I don't think they changed the cowl.....but I've been wrong before

i test fitted a 72 hood on my 84 and it fit with just the hood latch repositioned.........
but the cowl (between hood and windshield) had about a 1/2" step.......the older hood set lower........

i was thinking about sapping the cowls....they looked like they might switch, but after trying to get the grill to swap i gave up, it was just to far off with the 84 fenders........

i think i'll pull the screen off my trail duster and compare it to the two i have. i think the two cowl screens i have might be for the older bird-bath hood.
