I was just wondering if I could build dana 44's up enough to hold up to 35x12.5x15 tires and a 360 putting out around 400-450hp? Im wondering because I cant find any cheap rims that I like for an 8 lug. Also i'm thinking that i need to cut back a little bit on the cost of rebuilding my truck. Any input would be greatly appreaciated. BTW I don't really know if my trucks a W100 or a W150, all i know is it has 5 spoke Dana 44's. I'm pretty new to the dodge world.

a stock 44 can usually hold up to 35s unless you have a locker and get really bound up. there are chromoly axle shafts and ctm u joints and the like, but for the cost of some of that stuff you could put in a dana 60.

or could be an 8 3/8 rear?? maybe?? but as was said, if its geting or has a locker in the front, get the d60 or the chromo shafts for the 44, I bust 44 shafts all the dam time , mine is a stock 360, 727,203 case and 4:88 gears in the axles, with 36x12.5x15 tsl radials, I just usually carry spare axles and swap em on the trail

the 44 can handle 35's no problem, just make sure that if you lock it and you get in a sticky situation don't gun it, cause those shafts will snap. Moser makes the shafts for about $300.

Well knowing me ill snap axles left and right then, I'll only do this if i cant find some resonably priced lockers for the Dana 60's, so far all I can find is ones for $500.

D44's can actually be made reasonably stout. definetly, go w/4340 chromoly shafts(come in either 30, 33 or 35 spline) and CTM joint or equivalent. the week link on 44's is the 19 splint stub shaft. which sucks cuz they make a 30 spline stubby for the D30 which my cherokee has
