The property is between Arnoldsburg and Spencer off I79.starlink review of best effort
I've been waiting for over 2 years for starlink to replace our DSL internet. DSL, Hughes or Starlink are my only current options. Homes within 300 yards have access to high speed but providers don't seem willing to run the cable further.
Your question prompted me to login into my Starlink account and sign up for "best effort starlink" Same cost but less than advertised speeds. Seems like everything is a scam these days.
Whereabouts in WV you thinking of moving? The FCC has a country wide interactive map that shows high speed providers down to the street address.
Peace and quiet YES less taxes YES My wife is an NP so I have medical care at home BUT the people we would be buying from said that the healthcare is ver good there.I mean, I have a cousin that lives near Spencer and I've lived my whole life in WV. Beyond that, nah. I grew up in Charleston but left there in 1980, a lot has changed since the 70's right?
Me, I like PA a lot too. Currently I'm between Hagerstown MD & Winchester VA (easter panhandle WV). Hey, if you're moving for a larger spread and more peace and quiet at a reasonable cost, why not.
Somewhat jokingly, if you ever need substantial medical treatments go to Columbus or Pittsburgh. haha
And that is what we want. The problem is internet service right now. My wife is ready to move now. But there are too many details at this point.Spencer is one of those areas you don't just "go through" on your way to somewhere else. It's not on the way to anywhere lol.

Starlink. Internet, anywhere. I have it and love it. I work with a lot of engineering design and data. And that is what we want. The problem is internet service right now. My wife is ready to move now. But there are too many details at this point.
I waited I think 9 month for Starlink. High speed is just like you, right down the road but darn it, I'm just a bit too far. Maybe a half mile or less. Now that I have Starlink, I love it. It's $110/mo and I get speeds that vary from 150mb down to 5 or 6 at a bad "moment". Most of the time its 40-60 when I'm hooked to the company VPN. I do CAD work in engineering and my speeds don't suffer. I can do work while we also have 3 TV's, notebooks, and other computers going. I opted for two extra mesh routers because we have our boys living in two RV's back behind my shop and out in the wifes crafting cave. I've never regretted shifting away from centurylink. It came over phone lines at 6mb per line. I had to pay for two lines just to get 6mb when hooked to the company VPN. It was horrible.starlink review of best effort

My dish was pointing south when I put it up as that is where my DirecTV dish used to point. But the Starlink dish points itself. It turned itself to the NW and has pretty much stayed there. There is nothing to hooking it up. Use the app to find the obstructions. Set the dish in the clearest spot. Then run the wires and plug it in. Then if I recall you have to set up a new internet name and password. The mesh nodes pretty much set themselves up and your computers and stuff pretty much find them after the mesh nodes find the main router. Easy peasy.Recvd the starlink box the other day. YouTubed some install videos and the dish points north eh? Not ideal for me because of trees. I just assumed northern hemisphere's dishes point south like the tv dish. As usual I'm second guessing the whole thing. We pay $20 a month for a DSL line that creeps along at 2.1 mbps. Barely enough to watch a movie. Maybe that's all I need.
I see with all the gadgets and family, work from home situation you have going on Starlink perfect sense. Thanks for the tips.
I'll put the app on the phone and check the obstructions, go from there.
We are planning on the RV kit also. That way we can put it in the 5th wheel and my wife can work while visit back here or if we take a vacation.Starlink is amazing, I have it in my camper and love it. You get very good quality even in the most remote places.
Yes. No complaints. Ive had it over a year. It went down recently but out less than 30 minutes. That was the first and only time it's gone down on me.So starlink is good?
