my check engine light came on and when i step on the gas my truck shakes extremely bad and it will barely go past 40 mph. anyone have any ideas engine ready to blow
check your codes by turning key on and off 3 times and leaving on. your check engine light will flash. count the fast flashes then there will be a pause and several more fast flashes. For example 5 fast flashes then a pause then 5 more fast flashes is code 55. 55 means "the end of codes" and you will always have that. its probably yoru fuel pump going out though
Sounds like a serious electrical short that's grounding the system. This is easier to "eyeball" at night. Pop the hood and, with the truck running, look for an electrical arc. Rock the truck a bit or have someone juice the throttle while you watch. Where I'd start anyway.
You won't get any codes on a 92 for taking the cat off. I ran my 94 for a year with no cat. never a code.
You guys are giving some crazy advice. He needs to check his codes first then go from there. Yes there is a very good chance that it is plug wires since they are known to go bad often.
Hmmmmmm... Me thinks you miscounted... There is no code 39 on any of the lists I have, and not in Alldata.. If you have a 727, 518, or manual tranny, you will get a 37 all the time because they are non-lockup... Check your flashes again.......
