I bought this book from Amazon.com for about $19. It covers rebuilding, tuning, and modifying the Carter Thermo Quad, AFB, AVS and WCFB carburetors.
I already knew how to tear down a carburetor and rebuild it, but I like to learn as much as I can, I dig having reference manuals.
I scored with this book. I have learned so much by reading it. I still haven't read it all, but the tips, specs, advice, pics and diagrams are invaluable. (example: there is a quick tip to determine if your TQ's nitro-phyl floats are absorbing fuel and sinking w/o weighing them.)
I highly recommend this book to anyone that just want's to learn how a carb works, or any one that wants to learn the indepth specifics on Carter 4 barrel carburetors.
It's called "Super Tuning and Modifying Carter Carburetors: Performance, Street, and Off-road Applications" by Dave Emanuel. ISBN = 0-931472-11-3
i also have that book and my ol man has a carter one from the dealership he worked at in the late 70's and they both pretty much have the same info in them
