i'm buying a new carb. for my 440, what would anyone recommend as far as cfm goes? I'm not new to offroading, just the whole carburetor scene.

http://store.summitracing.com/ has a "Edelbrock Quadrajet Carburetor for Thermo-Quad Applications " It's 795 CFM.

i'm looking for a performer carburetor......i think 725-750 maybe then?

I've got an Edelbrock 1406 on mine and it works fine, just have to get the right jets for your altitude.

Edelbrock also makes the next step in the lineage of Carter carbs. It's the Thunder Series AVS, which is very much like the AFB, but the secondaries are even easier to adjust than the original. It comes in an 800cfm version. I believe the AFB is also now available in an 800cfm.

you need a 750 for a 440. The origina AFB's that came on them in the late 60's were 750 cfm
