I have a 87 ramcharger i bought in january. put new trans in and did the body work on it . thought it was ready to go but!!!! i had it running to warm it up and when i kick it down it does not go to idle right away. there is a pause until it idles down. i step on the gas again and let off and it runs fast again. sometimes it idles down others not. when it does not idle down i can grab the idle solinoid and push it back and it idles down and stays there. another thing i noticed is when i put it in gear it really loads down and runs to slow. it bearley runs. when its not in gear it runs nice. is ther someting that is suppose to idle it up when its under load? i have sprayed the linkages several times, every thing seems free.
it is a holley carb. how does the two stage idle solinod suppose to work? i am thinking of discounting the solinoid and putting an idle screw on it. thanks for your help.

Well the 1st part sounds like the fast idle adjustment for the choke is not pulling off entirely or the electric part of it is screwy like alot of them are, as for the 2nd part i would have to actually see what you are explaining
