can't get high and high loc to work on 4x4

Something sounds funny here. If you have a 77 you shouldn't have lockout hubs , it should be full time 4wd (unless there is a part time conversion installed in your transfercase). Can you post some more details on what transfercase you have, and if there is a part time converstion installed?
