Or hail damage or flood or any other damage that exceeds state/federal disclosure requirements or title issues. They get their information from a national insurance database & if the insurance company is not involved in a repair they have no way of knowing about it.
If a vehicle doesn't have any of the above damage, it ain't that big of a deal anyway right? I mean, if it is just cosmetic damage and it was repaired good enough for you to not see it and it's a safe car, who cares? If it's a bad body repair you don't need to pay Carfax to see it. So, they provide info that most people aren't able to determin on their own by looking at a particular car.
