dollar for dollar the best upgrade you can do for power and effiecency would be exhaust. either headers and free flow system or one or the other depending on your emissions laws. good luck
i have headers, will i just have to weld in n 02 bung? how much hp will this net me? say headers with true duals and glasspacks or hi flow cats
figure 10 percent gain by free flow exhaust. yes weld in a bung and your good. make it in the collector as the o2 needs to get hot before it reads a signal. if your putting out the stock 175 horse range then your gonna get around 17hp.
what is best for the exhaust then? true duals with glass packs? turbo mufflers or high flow cats?
It depends on what you want really...High flow cats are a must tho...

Allright, First question. Do you have to pass smog? If not, great.

Cheapest but effective:

Summit headers, stock pipes, switch out the mufflers with a 30 , 40 or 50 series flowmaster. Good sound and should accomplish what you want.

***********GLASS PACKS are a waste of money*************
Glasspacks are worthless and will rust away after about one winter.
BAH EXHAUST..... who needs it.... but i have true duals on my ferd... yeah i know haha i drive a ferd as my daily driver.... but i was impressed when i put headers and duals on, i used a X pipe not a H. X pipe makes a nice sound. im running 3" with 17" glass packs. im not running a cats though, it is on a built 351m... lol ferd power

THey are worthless, I've had one on my car for about 2 years now but it hasn't rusted away yet. I think its all burnt up tho because it doesn't sound the same anymore. Oh well, I'm to lazy to take it off ;D
Glasspacks are restrictive. Took mine off and idle went up around 300rpm.
well i dont have to pass a smog test, so lookin at the prices of cats i think im gunna skip them and go right to mufflers/ glasspacks what would give me loudness? and tone?
I don't know about glass packs being restrictive. They are a straight through design, with things sticking out to catch some of the exhaust. Race glasspacks don't have much of anything there to catch the exhaust to pull it up into the fiberglass. My truck has at least 6 years on a glass pack and never rusted out. I think its alumunized or stainless. Also has more power then stock muffler. If it you want it fairly loud and are running converters then i say just go no mufflers at all.
Get a couple of flowmaster 40 series on there and that will be probably the loudest thing next to open headers.
