Would there be an advantage to swapping the axle out of the rear axle out of my 85 d100 w slant six, unknown gear ratio, and putting in 9 1/4 from my parts ramcharger with 2.92 gear ratio......
Well you would have a beefier axle. I'm assuming its a 2wd, if it is you have an 8 3/8 axle already, so with the 9 1/4 you would have more beef. But the 2.92 ratio will either help your gas mileage, or really kill it. I'm not sure.
