Put the wheel back on the vehicle.
Lower the vehicle onto the ground.
Remove the cotter pin
Place the socket over the nut. Position the breaker bar so that you can jump on the breaker bar in a counter clockwise direction.
all good advice so far and welcome to the board / first Question / what the fork are you working on / you got a year or truck size like 150=250=350 or 3500/ a nut that size you could be working on a 1998 1500 4x4 and not a 1978 RC with full-time / as CHUMP would say answer the damned question
I would bet is a fulltime a newer one would come right off with minimal effore, the cheater bar method works well whe the axle is on the truck,, but one time i had to remove one with the axle on the ground,, only a Big F-N impact driver will do then
