I thinking ahead here as always. I want to build a full custom dash, and use a full set of Auto meter gauges. I one thing I can't figure out is the speedo. The mechanical one are set up for a threaded connection (the cable), my '83 pu has the slip in thing. Auto meter does not seem to have any adapters for this. I know some of you guys have these; so did you use a speedo cable from an earler year model, or am I misssing something here ? And if you used another year model, which one.

Get a speedo for a electric speed sensor then ck the JY for a dodge van or pick up made in the 90's (727 variant trans) with a electric sensor they just screw in place of the cable then just wire and calbrate :)

Be most happy to, but this is going to be a long project, right now I'm trying to figure how to replace the entire 'center' section of the dash ( from left to right including radio, heat controls, head light, and wiper controls etc), while keeping the stock type ac vent on each side. Going to be fun, but involved....

Does anyone have any other options then converting my mecanical speedo output to an electrical one? I already made a new dash cluster and for simplisity I stayed with the mechanical speedo from autometer.

I use a mechanical output and mechanical speedo so that doesn't work for me, but solved it by cutting of the clip that holds the cable to the speedo and inserted the drive into the speedo. Then taped the cable to the speedo. Haven't been able to put allot of miles on it yet but it does work.
