hey guys, i'm gonna attempt to put my tranny and tcase back into my truck (again). So if anyone wants to come by and lend a hand i'd appreciate the help... If you dont feel like getting your hands dirty..you are more then welcome to swing by and hang out and BS.

I've got about 85 miles on this thing since i put in the new engine/tranny (already broke it)/and tcase. So i'm getting the itch to drive it again. I'll probably get started on it bright and early saturday (10am-ish). Give me a ring if you can swing by!

Sorry bro, I've got one (still in the box actually) but no good to you here. That's one of the few things that sucks about Havasu and the rest of the AZ chapter.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Mike

well i caved, i got it towed to the transmission shop on thursday morning...they didn't have time to get to it thursday and it spent half the day waiting today. I had the crossmember on backwards, and they are saying i tore some seal so its leaking all over the place now...but i should have it back monday. I swear this truck hates me, i need to drive it to denver in 2 weeks and its scaring the shit out of me. It took 85 miles to kill the transmission, i wonder what 1000 miles one way will do to it.

If I were to guess, you tore the seal that rides around the front pump/converter. Glad to here there's and end in sight!

actually the torque converter took a crap, i would have never been able to figure that one out. The tranny went in and out 3 times before they figured it out. It runs awesome now ;D

What size is your fuel tank? I think I have some serious problems with my fuel consumption. The fuel tank on my RC is about 34gal I think. I also have an '01 Dodge Ram with about a 27 or 28 gal fuel tank. My Ram gets about 12 miles a gallon according to the gauge in the over head console. Well actually it reads about 11.7. I have 33's on my Ram and 33's on RC, but on the same 75 mile trip I always take, when I first start the trip on a full tank the Ram ends with the gas gauge still near the (F) for full, but the RC only has about 3/4 left. ??? So if the gauge in my Ram is correct than I don't even think I'm getting 10 miles a gallon. My RC is fuel injected too.

i have a 35 gallon tank, with 31's and 3.55 gears (i think)....keeping up with traffic on the freeway i'm pushing right around 3,000rpms...my speedometer dosent work so i can only guess the actual speed. I'm gonna throw some 33s on there soon and see if that helps with the freeway mileage...if i can get under 2800rpms i should be good for 15mpg. (from what i've read). Have you tried to run some injector cleaner through it?

I dont know if it would matter any, but my engine has less then 1000 miles on it still and i've got the edelbrock performer intake manifold as well as headers so that might tweak my gas mileage too. I'm wondering if i'll see any difference with the hard top on, i'm betting that there is a fair ammount of drag on the rollbar and tailgate.

The best way to check the mileage, esp. on the RC, is to fill up the tank, mark your mileage (or click the trip odometer), drive it most of the way through the tank, then fill it up and divide the amount of miles you drove by the number of gallons you put in and that will give you your mpg. I know on my truck I can go about 175 miles between being full and half full, then I only have about another 50-60 miles before it is almost on empty by the guage. Thats why its best to calculate it. I would also not totally believe the guage on your Ram, especially with the bigger tires, although it may be close, it may not be totally right. Those guages are basically just measuring vacuum and with the bigger tires, your truck could be working harder or less hard (in comparison to factory settings) depending on how you are driving it. Just some info ;D

Hey thanks for the info. At least now I now how to figure out my gas mileage.

So when is everybody getting together again? I know the temps are starting to climb  but is there some trip planned in the not so distant future.

Right now my days off are Thurs and Fri, but it shouldn't be a problem getting some time off.

I've got that '90 RC 150LE with 3.5s and 31 inch tires 360 eft and od trans. I parked it a couple of weeks ago cause it gets approx 11.5 mpg, which is about normal. Nick, I don't think the 33s are gonna help your gas mileage, takes more power to push bigger tires around. Unless you regear. I'll keep posted when you guys are ready to do a trail run.

well, if the 33s dont help the mileage. They'll atleast make it look cooler and increase my ground clearance ;D

Hey Nick I just wanted to say that I saw you driving your TD on Thurs 05-13, you were getting off of the 17 onto Thunderbird going east, I was at the intersection going west or else I would've tried to catch you, to say HI. Anyway your TD is looking good, I'll see you out on the trail someday. ;D
