Willy - Willy - Willy, thats just not safe - ;D

Month or so back, we had some friends up form out of town. They wanted to go sledding, and brought some really cool sleds... so naturally me and the other guy started doing these jumps that some kids had built... you know 'cause they were there... course these are two morons, that are to old for this sh$t.... so after spectacular mid air flip, I landed head first in the snow... really thought I broke my neck, and was afraid to move... my neck hurt for a week...
So the up shot - I'm leaving sledding to you young, reckless daredevils - I'll stick with two fence boards straped to my feet... ;D

I like to ski. I'm not much better than an intermediate level, though. It gets expensive, though. I lost custody of my skis 7 years ago in my divorce, and rentals are around $40 here. Lift tickets are $50 average. Multiply that by 5 for my wife, son, and 2 step sons and it kills us.

I miss it, though.

Apologies.....
I've been skiing since I was about 11 years old. I skied a lot in high school and shortly after. Fortunatley, my wife skies too and we both enjoy going, but ever since the we had our son, we haven't done quite so good. Between getting a sitter and the cost nowdays, we don't go as often as we'd like.
However, a few years ago, we got into snowshoeing, so that kind of helps the outdoor-in-winter bug.

Yea, I snowshoe a lot. It's a lot cheaper.

The year my son was born I worked part-time for LL Bean and bought a pair of kiddie snow shoes with my discount. He started to use them last year and loves them this year.

Yes I do (thats what I ment by nordic in the first post). This is where in started. I taught my daughter when she was about 7, or better we learned together, she went on to teaching XC, and retaught me how to do it right :-\ I still do it the classic 'old school' way, with rub on kick waxes. My daughter does V2 skate, which I still can't quite get the hang of.
KT and cooper, and I understand about the cost of this stuff, I couldn't do it if I still had young ones, that why we started XC, cause it was cheep and don't need ski passes. Now I buy season passes in summer for $200 bucks for unlimited day/night skiing.
I have also snowshoed, but lol, you'll love this - I'm far from the best skier in the world, but can handle most conditions, put me on snowshoes and I turn into a fumble footed moron - I'm not sure what this is about, but I like trip over everything ;D ... maybe I just need more practice.... ;D

I love to ski, try to get out at least several times a year. I got lucky, found MY size K-2`s at a thrift store for $15. They are the trapezoid cut, so they`re better on the icy NC slopes. A friend gave me a pair of boots, got a cheap pair for my older boy but not for my youngest yet. They both ski, but we rent for him. a 1/2 day pass is nly $18 so it`s not too bad here. Like to get a season pass, but i`d spend a lot in gas money to get there.
