I used to mountain bike before my knees and back became a real problem. I really miss it, but I'm too out of shape for it these days.

at 23. that sucks! what about one of those ones that are more flat on the ground. or will the pedal motion still screw with your legs

The pedal motion would probably mess up me knees. The cartilage is worn away in my knees, so any bending motion puts wear on them (they creak and crack anytime I bend them). I just signed up for medical insurance though, so I'm gonna see if there's anything I can get done to fix them. Hopefully, I'll be back on a bike at some point, because I really miss flying through trails. Out of all the activities I used to do in the past, I think mountain biking kept me in the best shape. It really works your whole body.

I have a Ross MT Washington I bought in 1997. I stopped riding when my son was born in 2000. My father just bought him a bike and I'm going to spend this week teaching hime to ride so hopefully by summer we can ride a little bit.

I have a Trek 830 that I have ridden hard for about the last 9 years. I think I am going to buy a new one before spring. But I would have to use my lift kit money :(

I have no front brakes since I busted the stud deal off in the front fork, missing teeth on the sprockets and numerous other problems. But it has served me very well.

I love (or should I say loveD) mtn. biking. I have a Trek 7000 ('98) which has been a fantastic bike. Me and the wife (she has a Trek 6700) used to go all of the time (mostly in Moab), but its one activity that is hard to do with a kid. Since my son was born 2.5 years ago, we haven't rode much, which really bothers me because I like it so much, so we have just been hiking a lot more.

I've been Mtn biking since I was a freshman in H.S. I started out on an old Diamond back and currently ride a trek 6700. My parents house has about 30 mi of trail access right out the back yard of some of the best trails in NJ. Which supprisingly to many are actually great riding

Just get one of those seats and put on the back of the bike and buy the kid a helmet

That would be fine for moderate dirt or road riding, but that ain't why I've got a mtn bike!
Downhilling at a ski resort is the cat's meow for us lazy riders!
There is a ski resort in southern Utah called Brianhead. You can either take the ski lift, or they will drive you to the top of the peak and dump you off, then its a 13 mile, all down hill thrill ride on single track. When you're done, you go to a local store and call the resort and they come pick you up! All for $12.00!!

We always hiked up there, i only was there for a year going to college so i didn`t know my way around. I know Whitehall `cause I dated a girl from there. in fact i worked at a gas station, on the main road from the malls going back into town, right next to the interstate.
