Does any body have any suggestions on good fuel economy 318 I was thinking maybe a 40 over bore with ported and polished 2 bbl intake and regular 318 heads I kinda of wanted to put 360 heads on it but I do not want a gas hog i also have a 79 P/U With 360 4 bbl, 727, 3.55 and it gets maybe 10 miles to the gallon and it is all stock. the 79 is for sale for 3,500.00 it is very dependable just not a fuel economy getter

the plan for the 318 will be
40 over bore
double roller timing chain
ported and polished intake (2bbl) and heads( 1.78 & 1.50)
maybe a windage tray
i think it will make it a good stout little 318

here is my e-mail address I will have to email you pictures if you want to see them my 81 and 79

Ya'know, any stock 318 from 83-87 is what I liked, great power with great economy.

But for a mod, stay away from high flowing heads and cams. High-flow equals more gas consumption. Dodge engineers got it right alot, and they spend years and millions getting the compression just right, the heads to flow right and keep the gas consumption down. Stock 318 heads flow very close to any after market heads, Edelbrocks an the like. And the amount of Horsepower and money spent in the price of them, and the gas will make you're economical truck drain you're wallet in the end.

But up to you really.
