I found a '91 gauge cluster on eBay, and I want to put it in my '89, because it has the voltmeter in it instead of the (non-working) ammeter. My question is, I realize it's an electronic speedometer, so could I tap it into the existing VSS, or is there some other way to do it? Or is it a lost cause?

just take the cluster apart and put your mechanical speedo into it with the rest. or do it the other way and take the other gauge u wanted and put it into yours.

I was thinking of that, but A) there won't be a hole thru the chassis and circuit board for the cable, B)the voltmeter is smaller than the ammeter, and C) I like the 100mph speedo... There must be a way to make it work...

yeah i dont like having an 85mph on my 89 either. i thought about changing my ratios on stuff to throw off the speedo enough to make a 100 be accurate. but that would take a lil calculation. id make mine a 100-120 by just making a picture to place over it like the white face gauge stuff.

In order to run the newer gauges....you'll need all the computer crap to go with it. You should be able to mix and match all the componets using your 89 housing
