Hi Everyone...

Emissions Test here in Texas failed my baby today :-[

Everything is good except carbon monoxide at low idle (706)...my reading was 1.97 and it needs to be 1.20

Any suggestions?

Prior to last year's test (my first with my RC) I did the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and it passed...only put on 8k during the year. Is another tune up in order? I will pull a plug when engine cools...just got back...

Thanks All!

Well it seems like a hot engine will pass more than a cold engine does . I know using some sort of additive i can't remember what it is . Also make sure u r cat converter is in good shape .

Thanks for input Brian.

Guaranteed to Pass comes to mind...the cat is only 2 years old...I really the combustion chambers are clean...maybe I'm just running too rich. Anyone know how to adjust the mixture on the holley 2b...the FSM doesn't address mixture...

Is 87 carb or injected? High CO% is generally caused by too rich of a fuel mixture, if its carbed try adj the idle mixture, if injected ck your O2 sensor output, usually a lazy O2`ll cause high CO`s. If the HC`s are in line I wouldnt bother with any tuneup type stuff(plugs etc).

Chris,

It's Carbed...2bbl...where is the mixture screw...I see the idle one in the FSM, but no mixture...I'm idling at 706rpm...should I raise the rpm?

The mixture srews are sealed at the factory, take the carb off you should be able to see two metal caps covering the mixture screws. These need to be removed.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for their help. I took the truck back the following day with new plugs (2 were carbon fouled--even though only 8k on the clock), took out my K&N (placed in a clean paper one), and kept it idling in line for 35-45 mins...it passed like a champ--err, RAM!
